Facts and Questions

Q: I have a loved one who needs organizing help - What should I do?

A: Set up a free discovery call with me. On our call, I can explain my process and see if it could be a good fit. Then, you can reach out to your loved one, give them the information, and see if they are interested in taking that next step and scheduling a call with me. Ultimately, it needs to be their decision whether or not they have the motivation to move forward with a session.

Q: This is so overwhelming! How do I even get started?

A: My expertise includes helping you get started! We will start with goal-setting because having clear goals is important to success. As part of goal-setting, I will walk through your space and we will have a conversation. Then, based on your pain points and my observations, we will collaboratively choose a place to begin. As we work together, I will share my tips and strategies, provide accountability, and create momentum so that every session you move closer to your goals. And I write a session summary after each session and email it to you so you can review and move forward on your own before we meet again.

Q: Will I have to get rid of all my things?

A: No! You are in charge and get to decide what stays and what goes. I am your guide and will ask questions and offer strategies to help you make decisions. I will also give you the space and permission in which to say goodbye to items when you are ready. Not to mention that I have tons of resources for selling or donating so you can feel at peace with where your items are headed.

Q: How long will it take?

A: Organizing a small space such as a linen closet can take as little as 3-4 hours and a pantry as long as 12 hours. But it is rarely a straightforward estimate. There are many factors that affect project time including the size of the space, the amount of items in that space and its surrounding space, and the amount of time a client needs to make decisions.  I go at your pace and I always check in to see if you would like to move slower or faster. My job is to provide accountability and make sure you get to your goal. If I notice stalled progress, I will bring it up in our session.

Q: What prep work is required for my session?

A: In essence, no prep work is required before my session. However, there are a few things that will help maximize our time together including: Thinking about “what success means to you” Ii.e. your goals) and having boxes, garbage bags and any baskets on hand for initial sorting and organizing.

Q: Can you help me maintain my space?

A: Organizing is a practice so in between sessions I will ask you to practice maintaining the space, using habits and routines. Then, when we meet again we review the routines we established. If the system is not working for you, we will tweak the space until it is the right fit. Of course, people change and their lifestyles change. If you need a new system or a “reset,” I will always be here to support you in organizing.

Q: Do we work together for the whole session?

A: The short answer is yes. I believe in a collaborative approach so that I can design a system that works specifically for you. I also believe that by working together I can transfer the important skills of organizing. That being said, I can and have prepped areas for my clients while they grab some food or take a meeting.

Q: What about shopping, donation, off-site research

A: I provide shopping, off-site donation and research  for my hourly rate upon request.

Q: Do you provide a written plan before we begin our work together?

A: I can provide a written assessment with a detailed strategy upon request. For this service, I come to your home for 2 hours and after some discussion I walk through the space asking questions and writing down my observations. I then go home, write up a detailed assessment and email it to you.
