Free Zoom Decluttering
Monthly Body Doubling

The Who
the who

Who benefits from body doubling?

You know what you need to do but you have trouble getting started

For many, starting a task is the hardest part. Having a dedicated time and a group to sit down with lowers that initial barrier, making it much easier to initiate a task you've been putting off

You are great in situations where you are held accountable (ex. working out in a class or with a friend)

Knowing someone else is in the room (or on the screen) creates a subtle, supportive social pressure. t makes you less likely to wander off, pick up your phone, or switch to a distracting task because there is a group that is actively witnessing your work session.

You find tidying, decluttering, and organizing tedious and/or stressful

Boring, overwhelming, or annoying tasks can trigger frustration and anxiety. The quiet presence of another person or group acts as a grounding force, regulating your nervous system and reducing the emotional discomfort or loneliness that often accompanies tedious chores or deep focus work.

You live outside of One to Zen Organizing's service area

If you live in another state or region then having in-person sessions is simply not possible. However, you can still utilize One to Zen Organizing through these free zoom decluttering sessions.

You have smaller blocks of free time

Traditional in-person sessions require a minimum of 3 hours. Not everyone has 3 hours in a row to spare. The free zoom decluttering sessions requires just 1 hour per session.

You want to have more control

Many people prefer to be in control of their own space but need the accountability and structure of having a time to meet and people who will work alongside you. You can also ask me questions during the session via chat and after the session  by speaking with me over zoom.

The What
the what

Body doubling is a productivity strategy where you work on a task alongside another person. The other person, the "body double", doesn't need to help you with your work or even be doing the same task; their mere physical or virtual presence is what keeps you anchored and focused. While it is a popular and highly effective tool in the neurodivergent community (especially for individuals with ADHD), it is a powerful focus hack for anyone struggling with procrastination, executive dysfunction, or a lack of motivation. Body Doubling will help you with:

  • Decluttering a drawer, surface, counter or small space

  • Moving ahead in small increments

  • Checking off a small task or part of a larger task

  • Starting a task that you are dreading

  • Feeling motivated because you are with a group that is cheering you on

  • Getting answers on small organizing questions by putting questions in the chat during the session or speaking to an expert after the session

The Why

Why choose One to Zen Organizing?

There are many organizers out there. Here are the superpowers that you are harnessing when you hire One to Zen Organizing:

Mindful & Process based

I believe that mindfulness is the key to organization. A large part of my job is to bring awareness to both a client’s true goals and to the underlying issues causing disorganization. Once we solve this puzzle, we can create a process that both allows you to reach your organizing goals and maintain your systems and space.

Compassion & Empathy

In order to solve your organizing issues, I need to understand your wants and needs. I ask key questions and then listen to you without judgement. Compassion and empathy are such simple concepts but they take practice. That is why I joined the Compassion Course and read The Compassion Book every year.

The Session Summary

After every session, I provide a complimentary Session Summary of our work together. I find this step very important for both of us. The summary allows me to lay out your goals so we can both see that we are working toward the same outcome. It also allows me to share the framework for how you will reach those goals. What can be more motivating than that?

Collaboration

When you hire One to Zen Organizing, you can be sure you will be working with me, Jill Katz. Our work together is a partnership where I take your organizing needs and use my expertise to create a strategy that gets you there.

Professional Development

Lifelong learning is one of my core beliefs. By keeping up with the latest organizational  strategies and techniques I can pass them on to you. I belong to both the National Association of Productivity & Organizing professionals (NAPO and NAPO-WDC, the Washington DC Metro chapter) and the Institute of Challenging Disorganization (ICD) and take classes regularly from both organizations. I keep all client information confidential as reflected in NAPO’s Organizing Codes of Ethics.

The How
the how

First you sign up for the free zoom decluttering session here

Sessions are scheduled monthly, usually on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 7-8pm EST. There are only 10 slots per month.

You will receive a zoom link closer to the session and a reminder closer to the session.

When the session begins, we will each introduce ourselves and tell everyone our goals for the session. Then we begin, making sure to mute so as not to disturb anyone, but keep our video on. Keeping our video on is essential for body doubling. You may blur your background. I will keep track of time and answer any questions in the chat. I will let people know when we have 10 minutes left.

At the end of the session, we go around again and briefly describe whether or not we reach our goals and any challenges or succeses we had. I will stay on for questions for 10 minutes past the hour for those that want to stay on.
